Gruene, (pronounced ‘Green”), is a historic district located within New Braunfels. It’s about half-way between Austin and San Antonio, situated on the Guadalupe River.
Visitors come from near and far and locals make it a regular hang-out. It was established by Henry D Gruene in 1872 and was originally populated by German cotton farmers dating back before the Civil War. Now it is just a cool place to shop, eat, wine taste, tube the river, dance, and of course spend the night.
It’s most famous for Gruene Hall one of the oldest operating dance halls in Texas, home to many famous country singers and up and comers who are on their way. The lineup is amazing, check out their website to see who’s playing while you’re in town.
You can live in within walking distance of Gruene, how fun would that be? A 2 bed, 2 bath @ 1000 SF will run you about $250,000. An 8 bed, 6.5 bath went for $1.6 million. Of course, if you’re hankerin’ to be the Mama Bear there are properties in-between!
